The Arabian Sea on the west coast of Kerala settles down here. The beach is part rocky and part sandy. The rocky edges have divided the seaside into three beaches. Kovalam has a shallow bottom with crystal clear water and is quite popular for swimming. During the early seventies, many tourists under the influence of the flower power who were in search of seclusion, turned up here. The beach became popular bringing upon itself an influx of commercialization. Seeing the rising popularity, many set up hotels and restaurants here. This was the beginning of the tourism trade in Kerala.

Kovalam has the distinction to be the first beach of Kerala to be featured on the international tourism map with tourists from all over the world coming down to Kerala to visit Kovalam.

The beach is divided into three parts by rocky formations jutting out to the sea at two places. These three beaches are named as Light House Beach, Hawwah Beach (Eves Beach) and Samudra Beach. The Lighthouse beach and the Hawwah beach are very popular and are crowded with tourists. They are curvy in shape with shallow water extending up to hundred metres. This gives swimmers a natural protection from strong waves and deceptive undercurrents. The water here is blue and clear.

Both these beaches have many hotels and resorts and restaurants. There are all kinds of Handicrafts, Textiles and Curio shops here selling all kinds of Jewelry, paintings, clothes, Carpets and other knick knacks sourced from different parts of India. These establishments aim primarily at foreign tourists for business. But the Samudra beach is totally in contrast to these two beaches. It is still undeveloped and not many venture out here. This is a part of a fishing village and is primarily used by the fishermen to venture out to the sea. They make use of the catamarans even now. This happens to be just a few light wood logs tied together. One can spend time here leisurely away from the hustle and bustle of the maddening crowds watching the fishermen haul up their daily catch on the shores.

Kovalam has made its presence felt in the international tourism markets and its popularity has forced charter agencies to invent special packages for Kovalam and Kerala. During the tourist seasons, many international charter flights arrive weekly with large number of tourists.

Amenities

Kovalam has rapidly grown in the last few years as tourism has grown by leaps and bounds providing tourists with all kinds of amenities. There are many five star hotels, Inns, lodges and homesteads here to suit all kinds of budgets. Kovalam has gained popularity as a major destination for health tourism with many of the hotels providing authentic Ayurveda treatments. Lazing in the sun or swimming in the shallow waters are just two of the many options available on the beach for tourists. One can avail of Surfing boards, beach umbrellas, beach benches etc for a nominal rent. There are lifeguards on the beach and it is safe to swim here. You can even join the local fishermen for a ride on their catamaran for a small fee.

Other Attractions

There is a Lighthouse on a rocky formation on the south of the beach which is open to visitors. Vizhinjam, an ancient port which was used by the Dutch and the British is adjacent to the beach at a distance of about 1.5kms. It is a natural port and is now in the process of being developed as the Transshipment Container Terminal. There is an ancient temple here which is cut out from rocks with beautiful rock cut sculptures.

It seems that almost all the time, Kuta pops up to the top of the itinerary list when one starts their plan to visit Bali. “If you have not been to Kuta, you have not been to Bali,” as the saying goes.

It is often confusing when one mentions the word Kuta. Just try doing a Google search, and it will return at least a hundred different hotels and restaurants. Officially speaking, Google is right. After all, Kuta actually represents the name of a district in Bali, covering a total area of 17.52 km2. But the heart of Kuta – where all excitements are happening, kids are building their sand castle, novices are picking up surfing – stretches only about 1 km long.

The beach line in Kuta district is segmented into three parts – Tuban Beach, Kuta Beach and Legian Beach. So the next time you head your way down to Bali, be sure of where you are going. As its name implies, Kuta Beach is ‘central’ beach, accessible from Jalan Raya Pantai Kuta. Over the past decades, Kuta Beach has evolved to become the central magnet of Bali. When you enter Jalan Raya Pantai Kuta, you will be greeted by the Hard Rock establishment. Due to its aggressive marketing in places such as Singapore, many first timers who come to Bali for a short 3 Days 2 Nights gateway think that Hard Rock is the best that Bali has to offer. As you go down the street (Jalan Raya Pantai Kuta), you will find Harris followed by Mercure Hotels. Personally, I do think that these three hotels are comparable. The view from Mercure’s pool is unbeatable. As you continue walking down the streets, you can find wide variety of eating choices – from Pizza Hut to Mc Donalds, from Nanxiang Restaurant offering fine Chinese cuisine to Vivo Rosso offering dine and lounge experience.

If you prefer something that is small on budget but great in taste, there is a food court located right at the center of Jalan Raya Pantai Kuta. You can pick from Chinese seafood to traditional Indonesian to Western dishes. Just be prepared to be aggressively courted by the stall vendors. They will not force you to buy, just politely tell them that you want to first look around before deciding your pick.

As you continue to head down the road, few more decent hotels – Grand Istana Rama, Kuta Seaview Cottages and Kuta Bali Hotel – add to your list of accomodation choices. Choose one of these hotels (along the main street) only if you plan to spend your entire days doing nothing else but hanging out at the Kuta Beach. Otherwise, smaller (but not less descent) hotels or inns offer more budget-friendly alternatives.

The Kuta Beach

Hundreds of Thousands of tourists visit Kuta Beach every year. Absent of any disasters or major disruptions, the beach are crowded throughout the year. This is a place where many Balinese (and even migrants from land as far away as Java and Sumatra) depends on for their living.

What you can do. At Kuta Beach, there is a lot you can do. You can simply bring your own towel or sarong (or buy one if you did not bring one), lay it on the sand and start your sun tanning treatment. If you want something hassle-free, you can rent one of the beach canopies and even the wood or plastic chair (if you prefer not to sit on the sand). If you are a little more adventurous, you can sign up for a surfing lesson that covers a little bit of theory and practical. After all, Kuta Beach used to be one of the favorites surfing destination. Today, due to the crowds, advanced surfers are compelled to look for a greener pasture. Or if you want to know how it feels like to be a Queen of Kuta for a day, you can choose one of the spot under the tree. Sit on the towel or chair. Indulge yourself from head to toe. Hair Braiding costs you between US$2-5, depending on the number of knots you do (and of course your bargaining skills). Tattooing costs you between US$2-3 and it last for 2 weeks. Manicure and pedicure costs $5-10 each. Back shoulder or foot reflexology massage costs US$3-5 for 90 minutes each. (Have covered from everything from head to toe? I hope I did not miss out a thing).

After being a Queen Royal and you start feeling hungry, you can try some of the stalls. There is sweet rojak (Javanese Style), nasi padang (Sumatra), nasi uduk (Jakarta), bakso (Obama says it’s delicious). When you are thirsty, give Teh Botol (Bottled Iced Tea) a try. But be warned that these stalls do not come with hygiene warranty. So try them at your own risk and if you think that your stomach can cooperate with your taste buds.

Simply sitting by one of the stalls, enjoying gentle touch of sea breezes and watching people of all kinds – age, race, nationality and fashion – would make my day. In the evening, you can sit back, relax and watch the sun disappears from the horizon.

With so much to see, do, try and discover, it is no wonder Kuta is probably one of the most famous beach in World.

Blackpool is the most famous tourist destination in the United Kingdom. For decades, families have packed up and went to stay at a hotel on the beach on vacation, playing in the sand and enjoy the view along the coast from the top of Blackpool Tower. An important aspect of the city’s tram network is active today as much as it had been in recent years.

Blackpool hotels can be found all the way next to the coast from peer to peer. Such is the popularity of Blackpool as a tourist attraction; it is fair to say that there are more guest houses and apartments for tourists, for residents near the coast where all the attractions can be found. Many guests Blackpool view of the lighting, which is another famous feature of the place. This is an integrated indicator below to understand more than 40,000 bulbs, which helps tourists and locals, are in an ideal location. This begins in August in most years.

The decision of where you are staying in Blackpool is not an easy task, especially with lots to offer. Another problem may be that if you decide to stay at Blackpool for a busier time of year, you have problems, a track available, if you choose the plan in advance. This is also a good option if you have the advantage of the many offers and discounts are available to take if you are willing to love.

When you decide where to stay in Blackpool an important thing to consider is what they want out of your stay. A disadvantage of this is that you can end up very busy and it’s easy for a quiet moment in his place.

If you are looking for Blackpool in apartments or hotels in Blackpool, who want to stay conveniently out of town, they must also have the long road it might take to where you want to be considered. Despite this, you can enjoy the tram is available, with good regularity.

Blackpool guest houses, which between popular entertainment and cabaret are also at night, while some even swimming pools and gyms inside. Whether you can be happy in a hotel like this depends on many factors, not least keep your budget and preferences. Prices can vary considerably, especially in relation to the time of year, the hotel location and facilities available there. To recommend leaving the discussion of the likely costs of a Blackpool holiday you are looking for online prices and you will get there, do not forget, however, left enough money for a good time when you are away,
