Faro Airport Information Faro International Airport is the only airport in the Algarve and is located at the edge of the Rio Formosa around a 15 minute drive from the centre of Faro. Each year millions of tourists from around the world pass through the airport on their way to holiday destinations across the Algarve.

There are many companies offering flights to Faro Airport Transfers including low cost airlines such as Ryanair, Monarch and Easyjet. Flights into Faro often come in from the sea, providing great views of the city of Faro and the Algarve during the descent.

Faro airport transfers itself is not that big compared to the larger UK airports, and finding your way around is generally quite straight forward. There are no train services at the airport, but there are buses and taxis available for the 15-20 minute drive into Faro, which has rail connections to the major Algarve tourist resorts, Spain and Lisbon. The train station is easily walkable from Faro city centre.

Driving from Faro to holiday destinations along the Algarve is relatively easy. The roads are not busy compared to the UK, and once you get away from Faro itself the rush hour traffic is minimal. Traffic around Faro can be busy from around 8.30-9AM and 6-7PM.

Whether you are heading East or West, generally it is best to head for the A22 which is signposted from the airport. Follow directions for Albufeira to go west or Spain (Espanha) for Tavira.
