Vacation in Sarasota Florida

Sarasota Florida is a distinguished city in Sarasota County in Florida USA. It features the Sarasota Bay, Bradenton FL and a number of islands located between the Gulf of Mexico and the bay. These islands are usually referred to as Keys and they consist of Siesta Key, Longboat Key along with Lido Key. The Keys are recognized throughout the world for their awesome, long sandy beaches and their tourist facilities and quality. Sarasota Florida has a population of 53,000 residents approximately.

Visitors along with residents of the region can enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the seashore, the crystal clear waters as well as the vast variety of activities offered.

Even though someone would imagine that everything has to do with the water activities, sports and tourism, since they are predominant in the area, the truth is that Sarasota is filled with cultural activities, like theatrical plays, opera, ballet, many museums. Naturally, there is a big selection of sports activities provided in the area as well, as golf and tennis courts can be found in abundance, while lawn bowling and seashell collecting are also one of the very popular and common activities in Sarasota.

There are lots of educational activities, for instance bird watching, university classes and learning about plants and flowers. Music is also very much appreciated in the area of Sarasota that features several choirs and symphonies, such as the Sarasota Blues Society, the Sarasota Concert Band.

It is said that if you are approaching Sarasota by means of airplane, you will have the chance to see a breathtaking spectacle, since the colors of the bay contrast with the white exotic beaches of the Keys, making you even more eager and excited about visiting this area.

Is it the amazing houses with patios, the mansions developed close to the ocean, the rainbow of colors coming from the trees, the beaches and the towns, the blooming valleys and gardens or the stunning structures such as the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall? Whatever it is, Sarasota Fl will probably enchant a person.

Visit To Elgin For A Holiday

Elgin – Moray is a wonderful place for shopaholics to visit. There are a full range of street stores and even contemporary cafes. You can find whiskey distilleries all around the town and some of them will even give tours. Elgin is a very busy market town and you will find a wide variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants to choose from.

The town still has many of the old buildings and some of them even date back as far as the 13th century. The grand town center has a variety of historic buildings. If you are into history this is the spot for you. This town has some of the oldest buildings that are still being toured today.

There are many 19th century buildings that tower over the main square. The town still has many of the old buildings dating back to the 13th century. The town takes it’s historical landmarks very seriously. Elgin Castle use to be on Lady Hill but very little of it remains today.

If you wish to make the climb up Lady Hill the panoramic view is well worth it. This is a beautiful town full of old gorgeous buildings. Just six miles from the town center of Elgin is the Pluscarden Abbey. This is a medieval monastery and what is so unique about this monastery is that it is still being used for the purpose in which it was intended. Monks still reside there.

The monastery was actually founded many years ago in 1230. In 1948 the abbey was then donated to a little group of Benedictine Monks. You can even take a virtual tour of the abbey. The monks that are there now are actually internet friendly. It is also open to visitors daily and admission is free. Taking a tour of a monastery has got to be an amazing experience.
