Kazakhstan and the US’ Commencement

Friday, July 9th, 2010

The Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States introduced the latest format of their bilateral cooperation from March 8 to 10, 2010. Known as the “Mechanism of Bilateral Consultations,” the method has been one of the target topics in the agenda of the new tactic of US President Barack Obama’s Administration since 2009. One of the Obama administration’s aims is to improve the nation’s political involvement with the Eurasian country.

The first set of meetings was conducted in Washington, DC. In a span of three days, the two groups – headed by Robert Blake, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs; and Kairat Umarov, Kazakhstan Deputy Foreign Minister – went over the state of bilateral cooperation. They looked for ways and shared concepts to further intensify and expand the tactical partnership between the two nations, which was formed in 2006.

At a press conference on March 10, 2010, Assistant Secretary Philip J. Crowley shared that the annual bilateral consultations between the United States and Kazakhstan was a success.

The “Mechanism of Bilateral Consultations,” which is considered an outstanding opportunity for the US and Kazakhstan, will eventually take part in the strengthening of the core standards of the nations’ partnership.
